Some years (almost a decade) back, upon returning from Storymoja in Kenya (held in their National Museum) I realized we (in Ghana) were (and still are) under utilizing our creative spaces. So through Socrate Safo, worked to get to use our National Museum for our then annual Ghana Poetry Festival (by Values for Life) for that year.
Sigh! It took Socrates, hard work against billows just to get the venue for partnership and thus a very successful festival: a festival which hosted facilitators including Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, Hon. Kojo Yankah, Nana Kwesi Gyan-Apenteng, Blakk Rasta, Abdul Hayi Moomen and Nii-Tete Yartey.
Sadly, the event was be the last major literary event Prof. Atukwei Okai and Dr. Kobena Eyi-Acquah would attend before passing.
Indeed we have a lot to do with our Creative spaces; as part of the Reset Agenda under the Black Star Experience, management (rather than thinking money first) should consider partnering for a win-win situation for both the space and creatives.
